Contraction of "Ab" (father) and raheem (multitude), "father of many nations".
Ibrahim or Ebrahim is the Arabic version of Hebrew "Abraham", meaning "Father of Ham". "Ham" means nation, but also "Ishmail" son of Abraham is also referred as Ham and all Arabs are considered children of Ham.
Ibrahim pronounced ee-bra-HEEM means 'father of many'.
