I introduced myself to a teenager at my church and learned that this is his name. I think it is beautiful, and it certainly fits his gentle, quiet manner. However, I asked him to pronounce it twice in order to get it right and he quickly said, "Just call me Pee-Wee." I refuse to because I get tired of people taking on alternative names just because people are unfamiliar with its language of origin. I insisted, and I pronounce his name correctly out of respect for him- and he needs that confidence.
