Iole was very common in Italy many decades ago. It was extremely popular in the early 1900s. Now it's hardly used at all anymore. Back when it was common, the spelling of Jole was also used.
It has been used it Italy, albeit rarely. I have an ancestor with this name. I like it, and it means violet which is always lovely. So, it could be a pretty and classy alternative to that and to Ione as well.
Iole is also an Italian name, even if not really common. "Jole" is one of its variants.
