The personal name of Abu Mūsā Jābir ibn Hayyān (c. 721 – c. 815), also known as Geber. He was a prominent polymath: a chemist and alchemist, astronomer and astrologer, engineer, geographer, philosopher, physicist, and pharmacist and physician. He is sometimes referred to as the father of early chemistry.
