William Clark (of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804) gave the 16 year old Native American Sacagawea the nickname Janey as her "English/American" name. Sacagawea found food, medicine, trade, and route for the expedition across the continent with a baby on her back.

It's a cute nickname, but it should be preserved as such. It's far too cutesy and girly for an adult.
