It's spelled with a "z". Janež is an older form today mostly found as a surname. In addition, janež is the name of a plant "anise" in Slovene.

Janež Gabrič plays drums with the Industrial music group Laibach. Laibach is from Slovenia.

This name is quite pretty in my opinion. It's disappearing quickly because young parents prefer modern foreign names. I'm sorry about that.
