Not a favorite, but it's nice and sounds cute. This is a name that fits a girl who is prim, feminine and sweet. I've known 2 Jeanette's and they seem to be a bit girly.
Jeanette is the name of a character in the story I have written. As the name sounds--it is dainty and feminine. It is a French form of JOHN which is "God Is Gracious" in which gives my character of Jeanette, her graceful fashion. She is a 13-year-old girl, rather prim and proper, shy around people but tries to be the most polite and gracious around the ones she knows, she can become overbearingly quaint and stuffy, which is due to her Victorian root which she innately inherited (and it's the early 1930's!). Jeanette is known as the ladylike beauty of her group, but eventually will learn to break out of her stuffy shell...even meaning her corset. She will learn to open up to love and to accept new ideas in life without forgeting who she really is.

In response to the post above: her name is really spelled Janette.
Jeanette is the name of the beautiful MGM actress and singer Jeanette Anna MacDonald (born 1903-died 1965) who starred in such movies as Naughty Marietta, Maytime, I Married an Angel and Rose-Marie. She is also known for her on-screen partnership with fellow actor, Nelson Eddy, with whom she made nine movies.
Saint Joan of Arc was actually born as Jehannette (Jeanette) Darc. When at seveteen she started her mission to save France from the English tyranny (for which she was burned at the stake in Rouen at nineteen) she was nicknamed, "Jehanne" (ZHAN) for short.

Famous bearer: Jeanette Brox, actress, born 23. May 1981, Orange County, California.
This is my middle name and I think it's absolutely wonderful! I don't think it would work as my first name at all, but having it as my middle adds a continental touch to the Irish-Irishness of the rest of my name.
I think it's pretty, though it's not a favorite. To me, it sounds like the name of an shy, smart girl who has her sights set on living a successful life.
I find this name quite beautiful. My sister's name is Jeanette, I find this name to fit her really well. She is girly yet can be quiet. I sometimes call her Jeanettey just to annoy her.
