Jessamyn West is an American library technologist and writer known for her activism and work on the digital divide. She is the creator of librarian.net She is the Vermont Chapter Councilor of the American Library Association, and was Director of Operations at the massive group blog MetaFilter from 2005 to 2014. She is now the owner of MetaFilter.
Jessamyn Lovell is an American visual artist who primarily uses photography, video, and performance. However, Lovell is most well known for her work entitled Dear Erin Hart, in which she found, followed, and photographed her identity thief, Erin Hart. More recently Lovell obtained her private investigator license, as part of her artwork entitled D.I.Y. P.I. (Do It Yourself Private Investigator).

Jessamyn West wrote "The Friendly Persuasion," a novel of an Indiana Quaker family during the Civil War. The novel explored pacifism during wartime. It was later adapted for a film starring Gary Cooper and Dorothy McGuire. She was also Richard Nixon's second cousin (and mine as well!). Amazing woman with a lovely name--near the top of my list if I ever have a daughter.
