Jinny Osborn (born Virginia Cole; 1927 – 2003) was an American popular music singer. She founded the group The Chordettes with three friends in 1946, which became one of the longest-lasting American vocal groups of the mid-20th century. Her final departure in 1961 led to the group's dissolution.
Jinny Ng Yeuk Hei (Chinese: 吳若希) is a Hong Kong Cantopop singer, hostess and actress. She is currently a singer with TVB Music Group and an actress with TVB. She was born in Mainland China and emigrated to Hong Kong along with her family at the age of nine. She has risen to prominence since 2014 as she performed several theme songs and hosted TV programs for TVB.
Geraldine "Jinny" Beyer is an American quilt designer, quilter, author, teacher and lecturer. Considered by the quilting industry and the publishing media to be of the first designers to form a fabric collection suited to the needs of quilters, she began her career in India after she had run out of yarn. Beyer's works have won awards in the print media, and she has written about the history of quilting and her techniques. She has designed collections for fabric companies, and has taught and lectured on the subject domestically and internationally. Beyer was inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame in 1984.
Jinny Sims is an Indian-born Canadian politician, who was elected as a New Democratic Party Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in the 2017 provincial election in Surrey-Panorama. She previously was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2011 election. She represented the electoral district of Newton—North Delta as a member of the New Democratic Party.
I know a Sujin who goes by Jinny. It's a nice nickname!
Jinny is also used as a diminutive of Jean / Jane in the north of England (according to my Liverpudlian grandmother, named Jean and often called Jinny as a child).
It looks better spelled with a 'G' than a 'J'.
