Joachim "Jochen" Peiper "famous" for the Malmedy-massacre during WW2.
This name was used in John Dos Passos' book The 42nd Parallel for a person who cheated on someone else's wife. I thought it was interesting because the wife's name was Annabelle, similar to "Anne" in the description. Not sure if that's a coincidence.

After Napoleon's fall, he was executed by firing squad, famously asking his executioners to avoid shooting his face.
