This is my favourite name ever! In my opinion Kai is better suited to a boy. I also really like the meaning and Hawaiian is an awesome language!

A gorgeous name for an amazing girl. Of course, I might be a little biased seeing as it's my cousin's name.

Kai can also be spelled "Kiah." I have a good friend with this name. His full name, Jordan Kiah Hochstetler, means "Descended Sea High-Dwelling."

It means "sea" in Japanese as well.

There is a Mortal Kombat character named Kai. :)

It sounds like a good name for a dog, but it seems like more of a dog's name than a person's name (unless Kai is short for something). I usually don't like one-syllable names, but of all the one syllable names, this is one of the better ones, in my opinion.

It is sometimes written as meaning "man of the sea".

Kai is my nickname. I think it's an awesome name. My friend gave me the name when we were teenagers, he hated my name Erica so he thought Kai was cool not too girly, different, sexy, and fun and it fits me just right.

Short, yet beautiful name! Reminds me of Koi!

Kai can also be used as a nickname for the Hawaiian girl's name Kailani (or other names beginning with Kai-).

Unfortunately, whenever I think of the name Kai, I think of Kai Hiwatari from the first three seasons of the Japanese Anime called Beyblade. He may have been cold with people he didn't trust, but underneath he really did have a caring heart. He's actually my favorite character from the show and I ended up loving the name Kai because of him.

When I hear the name Kai, I think of the character Kai Hiwatari in Beyblade. It doesn't put me off the name at all. I love the sound and meaning of Kai. I think Kai is very masculine and suits boys perfectly. Hawaiian names are so calm and peaceful and beautiful in my opinion. ^-^
