This is simply the English translation of the Scottish Gaelic name Ceana, meaning "fair one".
My name is Kenna, which means 'I am' in South Africa. Used by the BaTswana tribe in the North West Province. Named to special unique daughters. The name bearer requires no further introductions.
I just came across this post. I am Irish and my grandmother's maiden name was Kenna. It was pronounced kee - na.
It can also be a short form of McKenna.
Kenna does mean born of fire, because it comes from the name "Cinaed" (via Kenneth). This is also a nickname for "Mackenzie" or "Makenna/McKenna".
I heard that Kenna means "born of fire."
