Kora is also the name of a West African stringed instrument.
My best friend's name is Kora and she is really cool. To me Kora is the name of a kind, artistic, athletic and good natured girl.
I love the name Kora. I always liked Cora but I thought it would make it even more unique to be spelled with a k instead.
[+] While I like both Cora and Kora, I prefer this spelling because it's closer to the original Greek name. When I see Cora, my mind wants to add that 'l' and make it coraL, which isn't necessarily bad—it's still pretty—but the whole reason I like the name is because of the Persephone connection and I just *feel* it more when it's spelled Kora.I think this name, while German, would make a great English variant. [-] The only problem I have with Kora is that I fear it could be associated with trendy K names like Kaylee, Kayla, the sea of Kaitlyn variations, etc., and that people wouldn't realize it's a name with rich mythological meaning. However, I like it so much that I'm willing to deal with that possibility.
I like the name Cora, and this one looks like a pretty cool spelling of it to me. It's just that it also makes me think of the Koran, which is one way to spell it.
