From Japanese 久 (ku) meaning "long time" or 公 (ku) meaning "public, prince, official, governmental" combined with 方 (bo) meaning "direction, person, alternative" or 保 (bo) meaning "protect, guarantee, keep, preserve, sustain, support". Other kanji combinations are possible. This is the name of the young Japanese boy in 'Kubo and the Two Strings'.
