This is my daughter's name. It's pronounced Lar-nee and I have named her after an Australian dentist I worked with. Isn't it beautiful.

Lani is not pronounced 'Lar-nee'! Maybe in Australia. I pronounce it 'Lahn-ee'.

LAY-nee is a different name that you could spell Lani but that is way more often spelled Lainey. It doesn't share the Hawaiian meaning but is simply a short form of Elaine.
Lani (Hawaiian) is LAH-nee just as Leilani is lay-LAH-nee.
