Comments for LAWSON:
Lawson is widely used in South Carolina.-- Anonymous User 2/6/2006
Henry Lawson is a famous Australian explorer and one of the first men to cross the Blue Mountains (along with Blaxland and Wentworth). The name is not uncommon in Australia as a first name.-- poetic_freedom 3/15/2007
While Dawson is a great name, Lawson sounds like a hopelessly elitist, stuck up name for a son from a rich family who has to go to a boarding school and is under enormous pressure because of his background and his parents' expectations. It's very surname-y, too.-- slight night shiver 4/27/2008
Lawson isn't an elitist name in Australia, but is seen as very patriotic and "of the people", just like the poetry of Henry Lawson.-- keepitreal 1/27/2011
Lawson is a town in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, named after the explorer William Lawson.
There is also a Lawson Mountain Range in the Blue Mountains, but this is named after Cole Lawson.
There is a suburb in Canberra called Lawson, and this is named after the famous poet, Henry Lawson.-- keepitreal 1/27/2011
I like it! But then I like surnames as first names for boys. I like Lawson because it's not overused and it makes me think of my principal whose last name was Lawson. I know it sounds dorky, but he was a nice guy so to me the name is a keeper.-- GibsonGirl 11/11/2011
