I have also heard this pronounced LIZ-beth, well in English I guess. Very pretty name :)
Also Flemish: http://www.names.be/meisjesnamen.html?met=Liesbeth&sort=alpha
The pronunciation given for this name is not quite correct, as the second part of the name does not have the "uh" sound. The correct pronunciation is LEES-beht. Also see the Dutch pronunciation in the main database entry for Elisabeth. [noted -ed]
Hello. It's pronounced LEES-bet, not LIES-bet, as in "Here lies Bet". I think it's pretty and very unusual.
Not a fan of the spelling
Lies beth?
"They are lies, Beth." Haha.
ABSOLUTELY NOT lies beth. That is wrong and whoever said that is immature and has no idea what they are doing. Absolutely nothing wrong with this name. This, and also Liszbeth, Lizbeth and Lisbeth, are some of my favorite names right now. When I first saw this name I fell in love. Upvote this if you think we need more Liesbeths in the world!
An anglicised alternative is Lysbeth. "Lysbeth: A Tale of the Dutch" is a novel by 19th century writer H. Rider Haggard.
'Liesbet' can be found as a Flemish-Dutch variant of the name.
