Comments (Meaning / History Only)

There is long way from Louis, which comes from the Germanic Hlod-Wig to Loïc. I think Loïc, wich is used traditionally in Celtic places like Brittany, may come instead from the Celtic god Loeg. The church may have occulted this origin too (see my comment on Luke).
