Very pretentious and over the top. Great name for a snobby, thin woman who plays classical piano music intensely and very well.
Luda, Lulu, Lou, Lucy, Dove, Vicky and Vica are potential nicknames for Ludovica.
Ludovica is the female version of Ludovico, the Italian variant of Ludwig, and so it has the same meaning ("famous in battle") of Ludovico/Ludwig, Luigi/Louis and Luisa/Louise. Ludovica is the 15th most common name for girls born in Italy in 2017.
Ludovica is very elegant sounding.
Also a Catalan feminine form of Ludovic: http://www.idescat.cat/noms/?q=Ludovica&lang=en.
I love this name. It's a more easily pronounceable version of my great-grandmother's name (who was from Germany), Ludewika. I think people would have trouble pronouncing "Ludewika" correctly, but "Ludovica" is a beautiful - both easily pronounced and spelled - variation. It's one of the names that my husband and I would consider for a daughter.
The pronunciation is loo-daw-VEE-kah. [noted -ed]
Actually long time ago I read that the name Ludovica is a Slavic name (not Dutch). It means "Eminent Warrior".
In my country (Netherlands) there aren't a lot of people bearing this name. I think it is rather a German name than a Dutch name. Ludovica is not typically a Dutch name. [noted -ed]
