I just heard that a Romani (gypsy) variant of this name is Luminitsa. This is making me wonder if perhaps Luminita should be spelled Luminiţa as that would be pronounced the same as Luminitsa. There are a lot of Roma (gypsies) living in Romania.

Famous bearer: Luminiţa Gheorghiu, a Romanian actress who is one of the most respected theater actresses in East Central Europe.

I really like this name. It's pretty and has a great meaning. I don't think I'd name a little girl this, as it is a bit of a mouthful, but it's still great.
