An Iranian director born in Tehran in 1959. He wrote and directed Bacheha-Ye aseman, which was nominated for an academy award for best foreign film. He was also the head of the jury of the Montréal World Film Festival in 2002. He was invited by the Chinese government to create a documentary to introduce Beijing for the summer Olympics of 2008.
