This name can also be pronounced ma-lo-nee, right? Or is that only for Maloney?

To the previous poster, Malone is not pronounced Muh-low-nee. You're thinking of the Italian surname Milone which can be pronounced the same as Malone when anglicized or as Muh-low-nay in Italy. Milone comes from the personal name Milo which has a different etymology from Malone. Maloney is most likely from Milone and not related to the etymology of Malone.
This isn't quite a famous bearer, but there is a classic- and quite famous- Irish ballad, called "Molly Malone" about a fishmonger girl who died of fever.
