Comments for the name Maris

Comments for MARIS:

I am quite surprised that this is the first and only comment for Maris. I think it is a beautiful, old fashioned name; yet it is not ostentatious or dated. I generally love all names related to the sea, and I feel Maris is one of the best - it embodies the ocean's subtle beauty, power, and mystery.
This was almost my name; though my parents ultimately decided on Kendall. I would have liked to be named Maris - it's such a strong and unique name. It's perfect for anyone wanting an interesting name for a baby girl.

This is a really beautiful name for a girl, one she could grow up with.

Maris is such a beautiful elegant name. I also love the name Amaris, I have read that the name Maris could come from Amaris which is Hebrew meaning promised by God.

On the popular sitcom “Frasier” (1993-2004), Maris Crane was the name of Niles’ disliked wife (and later, ex-wife). She never appeared or was heard onscreen.

Maris hasn't appeared at all on the top 1000 list since the 1880's to today.

This is such a beautiful name, I am surprised it is so underused.

I'm fairly certain Maris has a connection to the god Mars, which, of course, a planet is also named after.

Maris hasn't any connection with the god Mars. In Latin, Maris is the genitive for of mare (sea), and the genitive form of Mars is Martis (hence the adjective "martial"): there is a -t- in the radical of the god's name.

I love the meaning of this name! It is alro really pretty and underused, which I find a plus. I might use this as a combination of my two grandmothers' names: Margaret and Doris. All around a great name, in my opinion.

A lovely, underused name.

I think this is a wonderful name. I don't know why it isn't used more often. It is so beautiful.

I hadn't heard of this name until a few weeks ago and I immediately fell in love with it. It's not the kind of name you give to just anybody, in my opinion. It's reserved for women of class, and I intend to give this to one of my daughters as a middle name.

Maris is a very nice name for a girl. I just love it.

I`ve just came across this name! I didn`t even know it before! But it`s beautiful! It`s my favourite now! It just has such a..."magical" sound. Love it! This will be the name of my future daughter...in 10 years ;D
