The "Maris" of Maristela does not mean "Mary." It means "of the sea," from the genitive form of the Latin "Mare." The entire name means "Star of the Sea," a title of St. Mary. [noted -ed]It refers to an analogy of her as a star guiding sailors (us) through stormy seas (life) to a safe harbor (heaven).
