In Germany it's a female name pronounced "MAHR-lehn" and a combination of Maria and Lena; see also-> Marlene; Marlena; Maleen; Marlén.
It could also be an alternative spelling to Marlin.
Deriving Marlen from Mar(x)Len(in) is wrong. There were Marlens (male name) in the 18th century. For centuries it was a legitimate (not only) Jewish name and surname.
Before posting wrong information do some homework! This name had never ever been a Jewish name.
