Comments for MARLIN:
This is Nemo's dad's name in 'Finding Nemo,' only his name is taken from the fish.-- waseom 10/25/2005
A marlin is a type of game fish with a spear-bill and rigid dorsal fin. See a picture at:

"Marlin", the proper name and the fish, both find their roots in "Marlin", a shortened form of "marlinspike" which is a pointed iron tool used by sailors to separate strands of rope. Marlin is definitely NOT a variant of Marlon (Marlon finds its origins in the Old French word "merlin" meaning, "little hawk", or is possibly a variant of Merlin or Marcellus.)-- leananshae 12/25/2007
There is a baseball team in Florida called the Marlins.-- number1212 12/4/2008
