For me, Marte sounds very youthful, bright and energetic, so that when I imagine a Marte, I see a young, smiling, courageous, feminine, but sporty, straight-forward, simple girl. Although I think it can grow and age with a woman, same way as Martha and Marta do. The difference is that for me, Marte doesn't have that little bit staid feel that Martha can have on an older woman for some people.

In fact, Marte is not a form of Margaret, it's Norwegian for Martha. Although maybe it is so that it's used as a diminutive of Margarete or any other Norwegian form of Margaret. I'm not Norwegian so can't say anything about the latter for sure.
To me this name is so motherly. I guess it's because my mother's name's Merete and they are somewhat alike.
Marte is a Norwegian form of Margaret.
