This was used by Harper Lee in her novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Maudie Atkinson was like a female version of Atticus Finch, the main character of the novel.

Cute name for any girl not like plain Maud or over used Madi and combined best combination of MAUDIE.

My grandmother's name was Maud and if ever I have another little girl I'll be calling her Maudie!
It's such a strong but wholesome name, just like the lady I remember. Love it!
