He was trying to raise some quick money (because the beef industry in the south was booming). But anyway, I'm getting off track. People who are said to be "Mavericks" are people are different, almost not normal. They're usually people who don't do what people think is right but what is popular. Some mavericks in history might be Sam Houston, Ben Franklin, and Abe Lincoln. Get what I mean?
