Mehetabel Wesley Wright (1697 – 1750) was an English poet. She was a member of the influential religious Wesley family. She went by the nicknames "Hetty" and "Kitty".
Mehetabel Wellington was the mother of Roger Sherman (1721-1793), one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America.
In “The Bedquilt” by Dorothy Canfield, Mehetabel Elwell is the main character. She is a 68-year-old “Old Maid” who is unmarried, lives with her brother and sister-in-law, and is an amazing quilter.
The name of the once-famous book 'Archy & Mehitabel' by Don Marquis, which was adapted into the musical 'Shinbone Alley'. Mehitabel was played by Eartha Kitt and Carol Channing respectively.
'Mehetabel' was the full name of Phoebe Preble's doll, nicknamed Hitty, from the book "Hitty: Her First Hundred Years" by Rachel Field.
