Mikko means 'one like the Gods'. It is the Finnish take on the name 'Michael' or 'Mikael'. It's a very common name in Finland.

I can't say the same. Michael means (Mikael in Finland) "who is like God?" in Hebrew. Mikko instead is related to Mikael, but doesn't have the same meaning anymore! Mikko is a very old Christian name, met already in medieval times.

Mikko Koivu is a professional hockey player, Minnesota Wild forward.
The male host of the Eurovision this year (2007, held in Finland) was called Mikko Lippilampi (or something to that effect). I think it's pronounced Me-ko.
