This is also the usual spelling in Algeria. All of the Mohameds I know are Algerian. Moroccans seem to prefer the spelling Mohammed.

Mohamed Chaïb is an Algerian football defender who played for Algeria in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. He also played for RC Kouba. In November 2011 Chaïb, who had three disabled daughters, and other of his World Cup Finals teammates called for an investigation into whether their children's disabilities had in any way to do with medication ordered to them by Algeria's Soviet coach Evgeni Rogov.

Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed is a Somali diplomat, professor, and politician who is the 9th and current President of Somalia. He was previously Prime Minister of Somalia from November 2010 until June 2011 and is the founder and Chairman of the Tayo Political Party. He became the President of Somalia after winning the the 2017 Somali presidential election with 184 votes out of a total of 328.

Mohamed Hamri commonly known as Hamri, was a self-described Painter of Morocco. He was a Moroccan painter and author and one of the few Moroccans to participate in the Tangier Beat scene.

He was born in 1932 in Ksar-el-Kebir in northern Morocco. His father was a ceramics artist who painted his pieces following an ancient tradition. Hamri's mother was born into the Attar family of Zahjouka musicians. His uncle was the leader of the Master Musicians of Joujouka. Hamri is also the father to Sanaa Hamri, the first Moroccan woman to direct a Hollywood movie.
