Morta means "dead" (referred to a female) in Italian.
Morta was the wife of Mindaugas, Grand Duchess of Lithuania (until 1253) and later Queen of Lithuania (1253–1262).
Morta was the name of the only historic queen that Lithuania ever had, it was Morta, the wife of King Mindaugas, who was in reign from 1253 till 1263.
This is also the Portuguese word for 'dead' when referring to feminine nouns. For this reason, I absolutely can't see it as a name.
I know the root of this name is not Latin, but Morta still reminds me too much of "mortem", the Latin word for death.
Morta was also the goddess of death in Roman mythology.
