Either derived from the Greek noun μούσωνες (mousones) meaning "master chef, the top of the cooks" or from Greek Μουσῶν (Mouson), the genitive plural of the Greek noun Μοῦσα (Mousa) meaning "Muse" as well as "music, song". As such, the meaning of that word is essentially "of the Muses" or "of the songs, of music".
