In Persian this name means "very good" or "pure, crystal water", from the root "nik" which means pure, good or chosen. This name was born by Nika Shakarami, an Iranian protestor to the death of Mahsa Amini at the hands of the Tehran morality police. Nika herself disappeared after a public protest and turned up dead ten days later. Authorities claimed she fell off a building, but it is believed she was actually beaten and imprisoned.
