It's not a very pretty name, and it sounds like a country girl name from 1940's America. It always struck me as too close to the words 'norm' and 'normal', which are rather unfortunate terms to use for judging people anyway.

I like this name since it was Marilyn Monroe's real name, but it sounds very middle-aged and too close to "norm" and "normal".

Norma Shearer (born Edith Norma Shearer, August 10, 1902 – June 12, 1983) was an Academy Award–winning Canadian-American actress. She was one of the most popular actresses in the world from the mid-1920s until her retirement in 1942. Her early films cast her as the girl-next-door but after her 1930 film The Divorcee, she played sexually liberated women in sophisticated contemporary comedies and dramas, as well as several historical and period films.

I actually like this name. I think it's nice. It's also my mom's name but I don't think she's too fond of it. People usually call her by her nickname or middle name.
