Nya is the main protagonist of Linda Sue Park's novel Long Walk to Water. My boss forced me to read it in mid 2016 when I was about 12.
When my boss and I were reading it, she pronounced it Nigh-a or Nee-a, but neither are correct. We were supposed to pronounce the N and the Y together and pronounce it NYAH.

I find it hilarious because when people call me they pronounce it as nee-ya. Or if I would let them write my name they would spell it as 'Naya, Naia, Nia, etc.'

Love the name. Not a fan of the spelling. Much prefer Nia which can be pronounced as both knee uh or nigh uh. Quite frankly, I much prefer nigh uh (Nia).

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE II! Pretty decent character. Really good name. I saw this film just before Christmas last year, and that is where I heard the name. I think it is an interesting name.

Nyah is beautiful! I first heard it on Mission Impossible II, and I fell in love with it. I'd love to use it one day if I get pregnant and have a girl one day. I agree with Jasmine who said it is refreshing. It is. It's not overused like some names.
