I think it is a very abrupt, but beautiful name. It all depends on how you look at it. Pronounced: Oh-Det. In English this name means 'Little Song'. It is a symbol of 'wind' and a month of April. 'Odette' is a name of peace and power. What I love about this name is that it is rare and unusual. Nobody in my school, or town had this name. I Love it! :)
Such a sweet and delicate name. It always reminds me of the princess from Swan Lake, so that's what I always associate the name with - graceful, beautiful, and utterly feminine.
Usually this sort of name would sound to harsh or hard to me, but since I associate it with the princess from The Swan Princess I think of it as feminine, elegant, and beautiful. I probably wouldn't use it for a child, though.
Odette from the Swan Princess a goody goody? She throws a tomato at her fiance and always wins at cards and flirts with the castle guards! Only when she's a kid though. I love that film! Odette is so much better than some modern names. Tiphanie? Princess? AMERICA?! Come on!

I never liked this name. It sounds like odor to me. And who wants to be an unpleasant smell?
Famous Bearer: Odette Juliette Yustman has had roles in Cloverfield, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Transformers, The Holiday, Dear God, Reckless Behavoir: Caught on Tape (a lifetime original movie), and Kindergarten Cop.
She has also been in episodes of October Road, Monk, Southbeach, Quintuplets, and Remeberance.

I think Odette is a lovely name! Especially if put with Marie, Marie-Odette, if you wanted it a bit more feminine but I see no problems with Odette on it's own!
I like the name Odette and don't at the same time, if that makes any sense at all. I think of the Swan Princess also. I liked the character Odette when she was young, then not as much when she was grown up and in love with Derek and all that mushy stuff lol.
