The word Orvokki was invented by Elias Lönnrot. The orvo-part of it comes from the word orpo, which means orphan. The kki is common in flower and female names (like leinikki and Tuulikki).

Not every name needs a nickname.

To me, it sounds old-fashioned in a positive way. It's not ugly, though the meaning isn't really that dignified.

One if the ugliest Finnish names out there. You can't even get decent nicknames out of it. Plus, it sounds quite dated.
