Dame Henrietta Miriam Ottoline Leyser DBE FRS, known as Ottoline Leyser, is a British plant biologist and Regius Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge, Chief Executive Officer of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge.
I first came across this name when I saw a children's book called "Ottoline and the Yellow Cat". I'd never heard of the name before, and it stood out to me. I think it sounds beautiful and unique. I pronounce it aw-to-LEEN.
Lady Ottoline Morrell was a well-known socialite in the early 1900s. She was romantically involved with Bertrand Russell and a close friend of Virginia Woolf. Her daughter's name was Julian.
