Actually, this name survived longer than the Middle Ages. On Find a Grave, I found graves for several women named Parnel who lived in colonial America during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Obviously the Medieval associations with promiscuity have had little to no effect on the modern usage of Parnel (at least, in the United States), as over 80 people currently bear the name: http://names.whitepages.com/first/ParnelFrankly, I'm glad that the name is usable, but not too common. I really like the sound of Parnel.
