I won't name my child Pat because it is "tit" or "boob" in Danish.
The word Pat means "boob" or "tit" in Danish, so this is a very funny sounding name in that part of the world. I would not name my child this if I had any Scandinavian family or plans on visiting there with my kid.
My aunt uses Pat as a nickname for her given name, Patience.
Has also been used for Matilda. (Becomes "Mat," then "Pat" much as "Mary" becomes "Molly," then "Polly" and "Margaret" becomes "Meg," then "Peg.")
