Thomas Jackson Phares was my maternal grandfather who died in the early 1950s from injuries he sustained in the coal mines. He was married to Vada Rhodes, and they had my mother and another child who died as an infant soon after Vada died. Vada's brother and his wife raised my mother. I was looking up the origin of the Phares surname which originated perhaps with the Hebrew, Perez, and the Greek and Latin biblical name of Phares. I noticed Perez had a twin named Zerah. My mother had a first cousin named Zerah on her father's side. I think it's funny how things like that pop up out of the blue.
