Comments for the name Philander

A pleasant enough sounding name except that there is no escaping the inevitable association that will be made to the word, "philanderer" -- not a very nice epitaph! If you like the -ander element, consider Lysander instead.

This name should also be put in the section of Greek Mythology, since Philander is said to be a son of Apollo by Acacallis (sometimes called Acalle). [noted -ed]

What an ugly name. It sounds quite pretentious, if it didn't immediately bring to mind the word.
