As the 1st century historian, Plutarch was a well-known gossip - so don't believe every word he wrote! He liked to put a more dramatic edge on things to make it more exciting and a better read.

I personally think that it might be a good idea to add the usage "Ancient Greek (Anglicized)" to this entry, because that is what this name really is: an anglicized form of Ploutarchos via its latinized form Plutarchus.
