This name is composed of the words pranë “near, close” + verë “summer” = pranverë “near to summer; spring”. Hence, it’s calque of Latin prīma “first” + vēr “spring” = Vulgar Latin prīmavēra “spring” (see the user-submitted name Primavera; also cf. Old French primevoire, Aromanian primuvearã, Romanian primăvară, Occitan primver, Friulian primevere, and Romansch primavaira). [noted -ed]
Why haven't I looked at Albanian names more often? Dardana, Lule, and now Pranvera--all beautiful.
