There is a book called 'I am Regina', based on a true person. Regina was kidnapped by Native Americans in the beginning of the story and was eventually returned to her mother.
This is my name and I've always loved it, even though sometimes I get teased about it when some English pronounce it like the female organ but that's rather rarely.
English royalty always have 'R' after their names, for Rex (meaning king) or Regina (meaning Queen). They do have surnames, the present royal family are the Windsors.

I really dislike this name. It sounds old and drab to me.

I think Regina Aurelita goes really well, isn't Regina meant to be said like Re-Jeen-A? I like the Nickname Gina, not Regie.
The G is hard in Latin (not ecclesiastical Latin). Regina, which has its origins in Latin, is therefore supposed to be 're-GEE-na' with a hard G. Obviously, in contemporary times the hard G is no longer popular.
Regina is the name of a character in the movie "Mean Girls".

In the movie Mean Girls, I think they meant this name to be ironic or coincidental, as Regina is considered the "Queen Bee" of the plastics and the name means queen.

Gina is a common nickname in Sweden, where the G is hard, re-GEE-nah, GEE-nah. [noted -ed]

It's a pretty word. I've always liked the sound of it. I can understand why people would want to name their child this. The only problem is that everyone would associate it with things that have already been mentioned in other comments. I wouldn't use it myself, but go ahead if you want to.
I love the name Regina, I have loved it since I was little. I think it's spiffy because there are a choice of nicknames: Reg, Reggie, Geen, Gina. Maybe I would spell it Regeena, but I would probably stick with Regina. Yes, Regina Spektor is a musician, and an amazing one at that. I think it's also a nice name if you're catholic and are going to get confirmed and need to pick a saint name. (I'm not catholic, otherwise I'd totally pick this one!). But I would totally name my kid this. And I'd pronounce it ruh-gee-na[h].
Salve Regina, Mater Misericordiae is a Marian (of Mary, Mother of God) title. It means "Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy." She deserves this title as she is the mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
My name is Regina (re-GEE-na, I hate the other pronunciation). I used to dislike it when I was younger, but I just asked people to call me Gina instead. Now I use either. I don't like the nickname Reg though; I cringe when people call me that. It sounds too masculine for me.
In the 1984 film, Night of the Comet, Catherine Mary Stewart plays "Regina", who goes by "Reggie". In fact, when she is playing in the arcade, her initials are REG. Night of the Comet is one of those awesome dorky forgotten movies of the 80's.
Kind of a pretty name, when pronounced Re-gee-na. I'm not crazy about the nickname Reggie though. It sounds too much like "veggie" or "wedgie". (Can't you just imagine a little kid saying that?)

Regina Spektor (b. 1980) is a Russian born singer-songwriter/ pianist based in New York City. Her music is indie/piano rock. Her music is amazing, and her vocals are beautiful!
I hate it when people call me 'Reg' for short. It really sounds like 'wretch'.

Regina Redlich is the young girl in the Academy Award-winning 2001 German film 'Nowhere in Africa,' which was based on Stefanie's Zweig's memoirs of her family escaping to Kenya in the late Thirties. I started to like the German pronunciation of the name, with a hard G, after seeing the film, and had to cringe whenever the English principal of Regina's school pronounced her name Re-JY-na.
Regina is such a beautiful name, although every time I hear it, it reminds me of the main mean girl in Mean Girls, even though that does not bother me, I still love it.
This is my name and I absolutely love it. When I was younger I didn't like it as much because it was so different. But now, I am happy that I have such a unique name. And I love that it means "Queen." This is a beautiful and elegant name.
This is the name of a rock band from Sarajevo. Not exactly a famous person, but a group of people. With 'Bistra Voda' they managed to score 9th place with 106 points in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.
Regina Engstrand is the maid (and it emerges lovechild of Captain Alving) in Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's 'Ghosts' (1881). When I saw this performed was the first time I'd heard it pronounced with a hard g, and I absolutely loved that pronunciation. I'm not as keen on the soft g pronunciation, but I do love Regina Spektor, so she helps my impression of it!
The musical (but not the movie) Rock of Ages featured the character Regina (pronounced "re-jign-ah") Koontz, the hippie-ish city planner who protests the main antagonist's attempt to rid the city of it's rock n roll lifestyle.
