Rico is also the Spanish word for 'rich.' This is where Puerto Rico got its name: 'rich port.'

I like the name Rico, but I don't like Ricardo, or anything it's short for. I'm not Italian or Spanish. But I don't like Rick, Rickie or Richard.

I guess it's a cool name, but I will never be able to get past the fact that it's the name of a company that makes reeds for woodwinds. That would be like naming your kid Vandoren.

When I hear the name Rico, I think of one of two things. I first think of Rico, one of the penguins from the film Madagascar. He barely says anything, but in a short film about the penguins, he's the crazy one who's obsessed with dynamite and explosions. He's responsible for making me love the word kaboom. "Ka-boom?" "Yes, Rico, kaboom."

I also think of Uncle Rico from the hilarious film Napoleon Dynamite. He's basically the uncle who takes care of Napoleon and his brother when their Grandma's in the hospital. He's not very nice, he drives an ugly orange van, has this terrible theme music, and eats steak. Napoleon accuses him of "eating everyone's steak and ruining our lives!"

Both of these famous bearers are very funny, in my opinion.
