This is the name of one of the main female characters in Nora Roberts' Three Sisters trilogy. It's unique and I do think it suits a girl just fine too.
There's a town in Maine called Ripley. Also, a woman named Alexandra Ripley wrote a sequel to Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind. It's called Scarlett.
