Ruqayyah

The East African (Somali, Ethiopian, Djiboutian, Eritrean) version of this name tends to use an "i" for the middle vowel. I have seen this name spelled in many different ways for Somali girls in my region:
Ruqiyyah; Rukya; Rhukkiya; Rukiyah; Rhukiya; Ruqqiya; Ruqiyya; Ruqiya; Ruqqyya; Rukia; Rukiah; and Rhukia.

I have seen all of these used since Arabic and Arabic-based alphabets exclude so many sounds in the spelling of words that Latinizations can vary wildly.

The Turkish form of this name is Rukiye. [noted -ed]
